IT"S NOT PURPLE

When we moved into our house (over nine years ago) one of the first things I wanted to do was paint the exterior of the house. We had painted the entire inside of the house ourselves and I decided it would be worth the money never to do that again. I planned on hiring someone to do the outside. we lived here a couple of years before someone pointed out to me that it was pink. A very faded pink, but pink nonetheless. I think the trim actually used to be turquoise. The painting fund always got pushed to the end of the priority list and I finally realized going with a professional wasn't going to happen. I started the prep work in March fully expecting the project to take all of two weekends, three tops. We finally put paint to house two weeks ago and we still have a ton of touch up to do. Dalin is not big on change and I caught him several times trying to wash the new paint off with the hose. Luckily the paint dried pretty quickly. We are not the neatest when it comes to painting so there is a lot of clean up to be done. The color is brighter than I anticipated and Chris thinks it's purple, but I have gotten used to it and I am really happy with how it turned out.
I thought I had a before picture, but I couldn't find it. I'll post it later if it turns up. Trust me anything is better than what it was. Don't click to enlarge the picture. Like I said we have ALOT of touch up work to do.

Conversation overheard

On the way home from the camp out the dads overheard this conversation between their sons.

E: Which is bigger, infinity or infinity + 9

A: Infinity is already all of the numbers so you can't add nine to it

E: Okay, well what is bigger juice or Gatorade?

A: Uh, well wait, what kind of juice apple or orange?

E: Apple.

A: Okay then, wait, how much juice? Are you talking about a cup of juice or a gallon.

E: A gallon.

A: Then juice is definitely bigger.

(There was one more clarification the story tellers couldn't remember) It's good to know Aiden makes sure he is fully informed so he doesn't make any rash decisions.

Fathers and Sons

Chris and the boys went on their very first fathers and sons camp out this past weekend. My brother Brian invited my boys and my other brother Aaron and his boys to come with his stake. Aiden always has reservations about going someplace new and he had a lot of concerns. "Are we going to the real wilderness? Will we be in the forest? Will there be bears and snakes there? What if I have to go to the bathroom, will I have to go on the ground?" If his cousins hadn't been going as well I think we would have had to do a lot more convincing. When Chris asked Dalin if he knew what camping was and Dalin answered, "You get marshmallows and put them on the fire." Unfortunately there wasn't a fire so no marshmallow roasting. Luckily the camp out was at a warm springs owned by the church. There was two swimming areas, grass to pitch their tents on, real bathrooms to use and they were pretty clean when they came home. Sounds like my kind of camping.
Someone was gave out glow sticks and it was like the kids had their own light parade. The mother ship is coming forAidenWhen Dalin gets the camera we get a lot of pictures of people's booty's, (it's right about eye level for him). I think he felt like he was missing out because my brother found Dalin bent over with the camera between his legs trying to take a picture of his own booty. Brian helped him out and captured the moment for Dalin.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

As usual my holiday greetings are late, but we had a really nice Mother's day in the Edwards household. On Saturday my grandma, mom, her daughters and daughters-in-law went to lunch. It was a lot of fun and I am always so happy that we all get along so well.

Kaylee is always very excited for any holiday and on Sunday she originally woke up at 6:30 am. She realized that was a tad early so she went back to sleep until 7:00. The kids requested I stay in my room for a while, which was fine because I was able to get ready for church uninterrupted. Kaylee had rallied her brothers and sister together and they made the sign in the picture above. She then recruited Chris to make a tasty french toast breakfast one of my favorites.

After church we had dinner at my parents house, but all of the boys took care of the food and feeding the kids (that is my favorite mother's day tradition). I am so thankful to all the mothers in my life and the example they are to me. I am also thankful that I have the opportunity to be a mother to some very wonderful children.
